Gerini e Gasperi
The Dakar pilot and Francesca Gasperi embarked on their motorcycle journey from Imperia to Madagascar, raising the necessary funds to build a road to connect several villages to the hospital

A common passion

Those who know Gerry and Franci could not have expected any less arduous and courageous mission; committed for years to helping various charities by bringing their passion for two wheels, the rally pilots have plunged body, soul and motorbike into this extraordinary journey.

Starting from Imperia on their two motorcycles to reach Madagascar, raising funds with the help of those who follow their social pages of Facebook and Instagram ( @gasperifrancesca e @mauriziogerini42 ) spreading the word through images, videos and stories that they publish every day during their adventure to get to Father Floriano, a missionary from Imperia, and document the situation there.

Solidarity

The two were captured by the story of Father Floriano and his immense dedication to this project

He who dedicated his whole life to welcoming, helping and educating the 60,000 inhabitants scattered in the various villages in this place: he built schools, churches, a hydroelectric plant, now dreams of seeing the 70 km of road completed to reach the hospital.

The journey and the unexpected

In the very long journey that they are going through, Maurizio and Francesca therefore aim to raise as much funds and support as possible to help the company.

In fact, around 50,000 euros are needed for the construction of the road in Madagascar for labor and fuel, while the machinery was made available by the governor of the region who defined this infrastructural work as absolutely necessary.

On a long journey like this, in which you pass through countries with laws and customs very different from ours, it is easy to run into some bureaucratic setbacks.

This also applies to Gerini and Gasperi who have encountered various obstacles for the continuation of their journey, in particular to enter Iraq but the two adventurers do not give up easily and with almost 10,000 km behind them the journey continues!

The donations

As mentioned, the goal of Maurizio Gerini and Francesca Gasperi’s trip is to raise funds to help Father Floriano build a road that will allow the inhabitants of many villages in Madagascar to reach the Iakora hospital.

50,000 euros are needed to support fuel and labor costs.
And as Francesca writes to encourage even the smallest contribution:

a grain of sand if put together with all the others … becomes an immense desert
